My parents gave us for Christmas a gift card for a "Dinner in the Dark" at a fancy restaurant in Munich. Yesterday we went there. We were so excited how it would be to eat in complete darkness, if we would mess our clothes and if we would taste what the food is (because they don't tell you what you are having). We were lead in the dark room where the dinner took place by holding on to each others shoulders. The waiters were leading us, they are the only ones who see, they are wearing night vision goggles. It was really dark, you didn't see anything and the eyes also didn't get used to it. We got a four course meal which was so good! First we had ravioli filled with avocado (which I didn't taste, I don't eat avocados a lot) and a carrot salad, then there was a soup which they served in a champaign glass with a straw, thank goodness! It was a cold tomato- raspberry soup with warm fenil foam on top. We loved it and I could have had a lot more of that! Then we had pork with squash and a potatoe cake which was so difficult to eat...I mostly used my fingers, which for sure didn't look really nice but hey: nobody saw it! The dessert was a coconut cream and a creme brulet icecream with passion fruit sauce, also very, very delicious! After each course the guy who was kind of a host for the dinner asked what people thought they just ate before he told what it really was. The opinions were so different, but Jordan and I did quite good. It was so funny and also so interesting. From time to time I even felt dizzy because of the darkness and it was hard not to know how everything looks! At the end they slowly turned on a soft light and brought candles, we were so grateful that we are able to see. We had such a good time we laughed a lot especially when Jordan had his finger in the water glass of the person next to him! Friday, March 11, 2011
